“When parents feel understood and equipped, the entire home is transformed by God’s design for love and connection.”

For years, parent meetings at the local community school were strictly administrative. School leaders would present routine updates, but parents rarely engaged or attended in large numbers. There was no dedicated space or training to help parents understand their children’s emotional needs, child development, or how to foster a nurturing home environment.
Recognizing an opportunity to serve local families with Christ-like compassion, Home of the Swallow partnered with the International Child Development Program (ICDP) team to offer something entirely different during a semester parent meeting in late 2025.
A Record Gathering of Hearts and Minds
When the school announced a special interactive workshop focused on understanding and valuing children, the response was unprecedented. Over 150 parents filled the hall—the largest turnout the school had ever seen for a parent meeting!
While parents participated in the main session, our team hosted engaging English language lessons and family-focused games for the children who came along, turning the day into a joyful experience for the whole family:
- Over 150 Parents Equipped: Learning biblical and practical principles of child development, positive discipline, and emotional connection.
- Welcoming Migrant Families: Burmese migrant parents in the community participated with special enthusiasm, stepping up in role-playing exercises and building meaningful connections with local school staff.
- Ongoing Interest: More than 40 parents requested to sign up for long-term, multi-session ICDP parent training to continue growing in their parenting journey.
Breaking Down Barriers with Grace
By providing light refreshments, snacks, and a warm, accessible environment, the team created a welcoming atmosphere where parents, teachers, and staff could connect as a supportive community.
Through simple role-playing activities and open conversations, parents learned to see their children through God’s eyes—as precious gifts worthy of patience, love, and intentional guidance.
