A Path to Peace: Bringing Hope and Grace to a Special Needs Family

“Even when a mother feels completely overwhelmed, the persistent love of Christ can bring calm, healing, and hope into the darkest moments.”

When a kindergarten teacher noticed that young Narin* was showing clear signs of developmental special needs, she reached out to the mother to express her concern. Narin was non-verbal, had a short attention span, and was easily overwhelmed by crowds, often running out of the classroom in distress.

Overwhelmed and fearful of the social stigma surrounding special needs, Narin’s mother struggled to accept the situation. She was unable to take her child to a specialist for a medical evaluation, leaving the family isolated and without answers. Seeing the family’s mounting desperation, the school asked Home of the Swallow to step in and offer support.

Step-by-Step Care and Medical Breakthroughs

Our outreach team began visiting the family regularly at home, bringing essential food supplies like rice and dried goods to relieve their immediate financial pressure.

More importantly, our staff walked alongside the mother step-by-step, helping schedule and accompany them to regular hospital visits for specialized medical evaluations:

  • Medical Progress: With proper diagnosis and treatment, Narin received appropriate care, which helped calm her hyperactivity and allowed her to adjust to being around other children.
  • Improved Communication: Although still non-verbal, Narin has learned to use sign language to express her needs, dramatically reducing her frustration.
  • Classroom Integration: Once prone to running away from crowds, Narin is now able to sit peacefully in class, focus on activities, and interact comfortably with her peers.

Planting Seeds of the Gospel

As Narin’s behavior and focus improved, trust deepened between our team and her mother. During a home visit, one of our Christian mentors had the privilege of sharing her personal testimony and presenting the Gospel directly to the mother.

The mother shared that she had previously known Christian friends and had even attended church in the past, where she experienced God’s presence in a personal way. While she remains deeply committed to her traditional religious background and continues daily ritual prayers at home, her heart has been profoundly touched by the unconditional love shown to her daughter. She acknowledges that the God of the Bible is real and active in her life.

We continue to stand in prayer for this precious family—asking God to bring full physical and emotional healing to Narin, and for her mother’s heart to fully receive the saving grace and peace found only in Jesus Christ.
