“Seeing a child’s smile light up an elderly resident’s face reminds us how God weaves every generation together in His unconditional love.”

For several years, pandemic restrictions created painful barriers between Connie’s Home and the surrounding community. Since early 2020, safety protocols prevented our children from visiting a nearby retirement and nursing home, depriving both the young ones and the elderly residents of the intergenerational warmth and connection they had shared for so long.
At the same time, safety restrictions paused our partnership with regional juvenile detention centers. This temporarily limited our ministry’s ability to offer shelter, Christ-centered mentorship, and holistic care to vulnerable young mothers coming from deep crisis and difficult backgrounds.
Reopening Doors of Hope
Answered prayers arrived suddenly when, within just a few days of each other, doors swung wide open once again.
Our team was joyfully invited back to resume weekly visits at the nursing home, and local juvenile justice officers reached out to ask if our home could once again receive young women and their infants in need of a safe, supportive place to start over.
The renewed visits to the retirement home have brought a fresh wave of praise and laughter:
- Intergenerational Fellowship: Every week, our children visit the elderly residents to share the joy of Jesus through music, simple hand motions, and active participation.
- Encouraging the Elderly: Residents who are able are invited to sing, move, and praise along, turning quiet rooms into places of shared joy and Christian community.
- Restoration for Young Mothers: Since reconnecting with the juvenile detention centers, we have had the privilege of welcoming two young mothers and their babies into our home, surrounding them with safety, practical care, and God’s love.
Serving “The Least of These”
Whether singing hymns with elderly grandmothers or placing a crib into the room of a young mother seeking a second chance, our heart remains focused on reflecting the love of Jesus Christ to those who feel forgotten. God continues to demonstrate that no season of isolation is permanent and that His grace always builds a bridge back to community.
