“They came for a hot meal and a safe place, but they stayed for the community and the transformative love of Jesus.”

For more than four years, the อิลลูมิเนท team has been faithfully conducting outreach in the local entertainment district, serving women working in bars and massage parlors, as well as the underprivileged families living in the surrounding community.

Our center has always been a safe haven. We provide practical care—food, clothing, washing machines, English lessons, and life skills training. The women know we love them, and the center truly feels like family. However, while our team was meeting immediate physical needs, we deeply desired to see more consistent spiritual growth. Over the years, a few women would occasionally join a Bible study or meet one-on-one with our Thai team, but attendance remained sparse and irregular.

A Vision for Deeper Discipleship

In May of 2025, before ministry directors Ryan and Ashley traveled to America, the leadership gathered with the local Thai team to brainstorm how to better nurture spiritual community. Our Discipleship Coordinator, suggested two culturally powerful changes that we immediately decided to implement.

First, we restructured our food pantry. While anyone can still receive emergency food at any time, we began preparing larger, standardized care bags. We warmly invited the women to join a Bible study, after which they would receive this larger bag of groceries. While joining the study was never a requirement to receive food, the invitation created a clear, welcoming pathway for women who were craving deeper connection.

Second, we leaned into the Thai tradition of community through food. Our Thai team began cooking daily hot meals at the center. Women started arriving early just to sit, eat delicious food, and spend unhurried time with us and with each other.

A Harvest of 40 Hearts

These two simple changes completely transformed the ministry. Sharing a daily meal broke down walls, and the structured study groups provided the consistency the women needed.

By the end of 2025, illumin8 went from hosting just a few sporadic Bible studies a month to welcoming 40 women every single week. Because they attend on the same day each week, they have formed cohesive, trusting groups where they can study God’s Word and grow together.

The fruit of this intentional discipleship has been breathtaking. In November 2025, our team celebrated a historic milestone: 14 women publicly declared their faith and were baptized! Their lives continue to change as they walk away from the darkness and grow daily in the light of Christ.
